Medieval Characters, Castles, Drawbridges & Moats
Welcome to this popular social studies unit on medieval times integrating geometry, spatial sense, science and visual art where students build a village of medieval instruments, tools and castles with levers and pulleys and 3-d characters made from wire, paper and papier-mâché. Artists Ken Kettlewell and Paul Walty. Available in French.
Pageantry of Puppets
Tell tales of valourous knights and courageous princesses in shadow puppet, rod puppet or toy theatre performances, with puppeteer Ann Powell.
Pageantry of Textiles
Medieval imagery in collage, prints, painted and batik patterns on textile banners. Students inquire about the characters of the time and create shields of heraldry, knights with armour, ladies with hats and shoes, Vikings and ships with artists Amelia Jimenez and Judy Pisano.
