Preparing for the Artist visit
Planning

Plan your programs at least 6 weeks as funds and artists’ availability are limited

Develop your rich topic in consultation with the artist and explore all the wonderful ideas that can be incorporated into this rich topic
|

Discuss your learning goals, curriculum connections, special needs, assessment stages, reflection time with the visiting artist well in advance
|
| 4 |
Ensure you are aware of material costs before they are purchased and reimburse the artist fairly and promptly for her material contributions
|
| 5 |
Ensure you have permission from your students to take their photos during the arts experience and please take them and share them with us
|
| 6 |
Call the artist and Inner City Angels well in advance in the case of postponement or cancellation
|
Program Delivery

This is an ideal PD opportunity for you and the artist – please join in the experience
|
| 2 |
Invite parent volunteers into the experience in collaboration with the artists with a clear and mutual understanding of the volunteer role
|
| 3 |
Allow for student presentation, reflection and discussion time at close of day and project
|
Assessment
| 1 |
Create a simple and effective rubric or portfolio in collaboration with the artist to measure and archive the child’s art |

Complete the Angel’s school response questionnaire and return it to the Angels via email to innercityangels@mac.com or by fax to 416-598-9338

Take photos and share these with the artist and the Angels |

Discuss with the artist further ideas to extend the arts experience beyond the visit—including exhibits, parades, bookbinding, mural, poetry, storytelling and short story writing—the artist is delighted to share her ideas
